Prayer request for Bee Gee Gordon Langford. She is in the hospital again! The doctors are running tests to determine if it is her heart, pacemaker, or immune system. Please keep her in your prayers. I am sure she would love encouraging cards and notes.

At our luncheon on January 14^th, we agreed to provide scholarships in the honor of Judy DeLoach. A Scholarship committee was appointed of James O’Sullivan (chairman), Barbara Nethery, and Joe Connealy. James will report back to our group in March for an update.

Thanks to the Scholarship Committee for all of their hard work. Barbara reported at the luncheon in March: “The scholarship will be called the JUDY LIVELY DELOACH “SPIRIT SCHOLARSHIP SPONSORED BY THE ROBERT E. LEE CLASS OF 1956. This scholarship will award two $750 tuition scholarships on the basis of $375 per semester to one girl and one boy REL graduate who meets the criteria.”

“The committee is in the process of reviewing applications and interviewing the students and will choose the winners on the basis of how completely they exemplify the qualities of school spirit and citizenship for which we all came to know and love Judy.”

Joe Connealy, Barbara Nethery and I went to REL High School this evening and talked with the young man and young woman who will be receiving the Judy Lively Deloach “Spirit” Scholarship from our Class of 1956. We have invited the winners along with their parents to our next luncheon.  We have also invited Johnny DeLoach.  We do not know at this time if they will attend or not, but I will let everyone know as soon as I find out.  We will give a final report at the next luncheon about the winners.
